I'd like to share this wonderful piece written by one of our tutees. He is from Sacred Heart School - Ateneo de Cebu.
Education is an essential ingredient in the recipe of life. For us to succeed, taking particular consideration in our academic development must be one of our priorities. It is an undeniable fact that most of the successful individuals are well-educated. Thus, we must work to enhanced ourselves because we can do more and we can be better.
As the Filipino nation seeks for change, we are faced with the thousand of questions arising from different arguments. The society that we live lacks the courage to work with transformation as we are overshadowed by the obstacles of life. Some says education is the answer, but let me tell you the truth, it is not the answer to the questions. Instead, it serves as one of the means to answer all these questions.
Given the above propositions, it is therefore necessary that we the youth of our nation prepare ourselves. We must equip our minds with the right knowledge and we must be molded with the right values. We must be honed by the right form of education to which the school that we are studying plays a great factor.
Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, is a premier academic institution that has been continuously developing academically inclined and values-driven individuals. Cloaked by the principles of the Jesuit Education, SHS-J empowers our minds and explores the boundaries of our talents preparing us for a brighter future.
The school’s mission and vision statement has always played as a prime pillar which guides the development and advancement of the institution. Inspired by the philosophical taught of Magis, the school has always been in the greater task of doing more for Jesus and for the community. Students of Sacred Heart School know that we have this great responsibility of helping our community.
Guiding the students are the 7 C’s that embodies the major Filipino values and the numerous disciplines of the Jesuit movement. One of these is being Christ-Centered. As a catholic school, SHS-J has emphasizes the importance of having Jesus as the center of your life. Hearters are individuals who are morally upright, we do think before acting and we do act with consciousness. We do believe that the true learning is the empowering of the mind and the soul. The 7 C’s teaches us the true essence of life and that is learning to help with love.
Another good reason why I love my school is the fact that we do have a comprehensive curriculum that has been tested and is proven to be effective. We go beyond the norms of teaching. The efficiency of Jesuit education is goes beyond values development. Its academic competence is greatly admirable. A lot of individuals are living proofs of how proficient our school is when it comes to academics. Sacred Heart School is the home of champions and of gifted individuals, but beyond this is the fact that this institution was able to inculcate values in educating our young minds.
In the end, what really counts is that we do move for the positive transformation of our nation. Learn to care for our motherland and contribute to its development. Let us empower the society by empowering our selves. Our national hero said it; we are the hope of our nation. May we retain this ideology in our minds and may we find the light towards the path.
